Couple of months ago, my brother purchased 3 tickets for me, Steph and himself to see Duran Duran in concert on Aug. 17! The concert was at the Botanical Gardens here in Memphis! It was an outdoor event where you could bring food/drink/lawn chairs and have fun at sunset before the concert.
Here was what was left of our dinner! Alex told us that he’d also take care of the food, just bring our appetites! We had Chick fi-la chicken strips with fruits and other little snacks. They brought sodas, beer and wine! Needless to say, the mostly 30+ age and up crowd were feeling mighty good by the time the band hit the stage! That was the great thing about the sold out concert,…no teenyboppers around! Gods, that makes me feel old, just writing that!
The band hit the stage about 8:45pm! Was exciting to see them in the flesh, even if I wasn’t that close to the stage.
We got the lawn tickets but we still had a mostly clear shot of them on the stage, aside from watching the big screen that was closer.
I was in 8th grade when I became obsessed with Duran Duran and other new wave bands that were hitting the scene.
I felt like the weird one among all the crappy heavy metal diehards in my hick class. Seriously, everyone in my class listened to heavy metal. Gross.
Roger Taylor, I love youuu! Haha!
My brother’s new style icon is Simon LeBon! Why? Cuz he rocked the beginning in a cool leather jacket and white pants. Don’t ask, Alex seems obsessed with the white pants now and will be sporting it at his club.
Set list that night:
BEFORE THE RAIN
A VIEW TO A KILL
UNION OF THE SNAKE
SAVE A PRAYER
HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF
GIRLS ON FILM
No one could remain sitting for “Hungry like the wolf” and “Rio”! Classics!
All in all, one fabulous night!!
