Review: Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

Queen Helen's Mint Julep mask

I waited a couple of weeks before I would review this so I can truly say if it’s working or not.  I had read reviews from various asian beauty bloggers about Queen Helene’s Mint Julep Masque and how great it is.

According to the website, the Mint Julep Masque:

Dry up acne pimples and rinse away blackheads. This original masque treatment helps to dry up acne pimples, rinses away blackheads and even shrinks enlarged pores. Relaxes tired facial muscles and eases tension lines on the face and neck.

The reviews I’ve seen, people have purchased theirs from Walgreens or other stores in the tube form. I bought mine from Sally’s Beauty Supply in my hometown. I figured, you get more for your money with the larger 3 oz. jar than with the tube.  I know the tube sells for $3.49 at Walgreens but this big jar sells at Sally’s for $3.49.  I have a Sally’s card so I got it for $2.99!  I don’t mind using it in jar form or getting it all up in my nails cuz I tend to keep my nails pretty short and I’m all about saving money on beauty stuff!

When you open the jar, the stuff looks like this:

Queen Helen's Mint Julep mask

It smells kinda like toothpaste!  Does that bother me?  Hell no!  I love minty smelling things!  After I washed my face, I slathered this on rather thick.  I did experience some mild tingling but it wasn’t uncomfortable at all.

The consistency is thick but not too thickly like a regular mud mask.  My sister uses BeautiControl Luxieries of the Sea Fango Seaweed scrub/mask (she used to sell BeautiControl) and that stuff is hella THICK!  It’s like real mud!

In the past when I’ve used masks/masques before, they would tighten up too much (when drying) and really dry out my skin too much.  The Mint Julep mask did tighten but it left my skin smooth and soft!  Over the past 4 weeks I’ve used this, I have noticed that my skintone is getting better.  My pores have shrunk just a tad.  I have huge pores, unfortunately.

I really love this mask and for the price, I’m definitely going to keep on buying it!  I’ve always seen the Queen Helene products in store but never knew if they were any good because of the cheaper price.  I’m now curious to try the Mint Julep Facial Scrub when I finish using up my regular scrub.
