Review: Patricia Wexler M.D. Intensive 3-in-1 Day Cream SPF 30: Lifting, Firming, Anti-Wrinkle Formula

November 6th, 2008

I was at the mall with my mom because she wanted my advice on purchasing new glasses.  She is clueless when it comes to what type of frames look best on her.  After going to 2 places, she found a sweet deal of 2 bifocal glasses with no lines for $149.

While we were waiting for the glasses to be done, we walked around the mall.  I went to Bath & Body Works because I wanted to get samples of the Patricia Wexler skincare line.  I already had a moisturizer from that line I’d been using off/on (review coming up on that soon) so I wanted to see if there was anything else worthwhile from the line.

I spoke with the bored sales lady and asked for recommendations for my oily/acne-prone skin.  She recommended several things but gave me samples of 2 products.

One was the MMPi.20™ Skin Regenerating Serum.  I’ll do a review on that later.  The other was the  Intensive 3-in-1 Day Cream SPF 30: Lifting, Firming, Anti-Wrinkle Formula.  I mentioned to the sales lady that I had recently started using an anti-aging night cream.  Hey, I’m not old but it’s never too early to start!  So, I thought maybe I could sample the Wexler line and see how it turned out.

Got a sample of this and it was awful

Here is the info on the product from the website:

Fights the glycation process, inhibiting the breakdown of collagen to restore skin’s natural density and bounce. Skin-strengthening Niacyl™ enhances skin’s protective barrier, while MMPi-20™ repairs signs of past damage and BVOSC (a premier vitamin C) protects against environmental aggressors. Skin feels instantly soft and smooth, and appears firmer and lifted, with facial contours visibly redefined.

  • Supports skin’s structure to visibly lift and firm
  • Restores youthful-looking contours
  • Visibly smoothes and plumps skin’s surface

I tried the sample this morning after I had showered and toned my face. The cream is pretty thick and when I applied it to my face, I knew it wasn’t going to work well. It’s just too thick for an oily complextion. Second, the smell is kinda “old lady”. Third, it didn’t help stop the oily shine I get after an hour or so.

Other than that, my face did remain smooth and pretty hydrated throughout the day. But I still would not purchase this product. It would probably work best for someone with normal or dry skin.

I’m still hoping that something from the Wexler line will work! Maybe the Regenerating Serum? Will see and review it soon!
