Pristine Recovery Gift Basket

November 15th, 2008

I used to have such rotten luck when it comes to lucky draw.  For the 6 years during my primary school life, I never won anything in the X’mas draw.  And what’s worse, was that I drew my own gift back twice out of the 6 years during present exchange.  You can imagine the look on my face when I got my own present back after I gave the draw ticket to my teacher.  Such a tramatic experience for a kid.

But recently, my luck is getting better!  Not only I won a beauty basket from Shoppers Drug Mart last month, I also won a Pristone Recovery Gift Basket!  Thank you Bare Budget Beauty!

Isn’t it pretty?  Pinkness!

About Pristine Recovery:  As a breast cancer survivor, Blair made her own hair and skin cream with 100% natural ingredients to bring her beautiful hair and skin back.  In 2007, she founded Pristine Recovery, collaborated with a team of professional chemists, “to create effective 100% natural, carcinogen free solutions for people like me who are looking in a new and healthy direction”.  While these products care for your skin, it is also for a good cause by donating a portion of the proceeds to the Young Survival Coalition and the Cancer Prevention Coalition.

The basket comes with 3 products: Brallywood Butta (5 oz, $48), No More Scary Hairy (1.5 oz, $42), and Take A Whiff (3.25oz, $20).

Brallywood Butta

Official description:  Brallywood Butta 100% Natural.  Repair and renew decollete and total body treatment cream.  Helps repair and restore very stressed, fragile skin.  Helps heal and improve the appearance of scars.  Gentle and effective enough to be used anywhere on the face, neck and bod.  An excellent anti-age moisturizer.

My impression:  It’s a milky white lotion.  I always have problem with face and body lotion because I find it slow to sink into my skin.  It’s like smearing white paint over.  But this one sinks in well and fast.  Tried it on both my body and face and it leaves my skin soft.  I have very sensitive skin, and this lotion doesn’t cause any allergic reaction, guess because of the natrual ingredients.

The scent is a light creamy citrusy lemony smell because it has tangerine and lemon oil, but not very strong.  After a while you don’t smell it at all, although when I sniff my arm, it has a slightly sour milky scent.  Not a bad smell, but don’t expect it smells like one of those really foody body lotion, because after all, this one doesn’t contain any of those artificial fragrance, which is a very good thing!

Scary Hair

Official description: No More Scary Hairy. 100% natrual hair and scalp revival serum.  This product is meant for the hair and scalp that is fragile, stressed and needs some extra special attention.  Can be used on dry or wet hair.  It is a Super Star product that you can use it on nail, scar treatment, and face treatment serum as well.

My impression: It comes out as a clear yellowish liquid oil, but appears thicker in the bottle because of the cool temperature.  I tried it on both my face and hand and again, it sinks in very well and doesn’t feel greasy at all.  I can imagine it will be very nice on hair as well, just use it sparingly.  The scent is a tad stronger than Brallywood Butta.  I am not very good at identifying notes, at first I thought it has Frankincense because it smells kind of incensey.  But when I read the label it has Ylang, Lavender, and Rosemary and perhaps of combination of them fool my already not-so-accurate nose.  Again the scent is light, after a while it is not noticeable.

Take A Whiff:

Official description: Nearly double the size of a traditional deodorant, this delicious smelling creamiscle scented deodorant will make you feel fresh, confident and odor free!  It contains the most effective natural, healthy ingredients that will stimulate the lymphatic gland and fight perspiration.

My impression:  It sure is a big size deodorant!   It has a dominant orangery smell when you sniff the tube, but after it is applied it becomes a creamsicle scent.  I don’t have body odor problem and I don’t sweat a lot so normally I have no use of deodorant, so I probably can’t accurately evaluation the effectiveness of the product.  When I put it on, I feel it is making my armpit moisturized but sticky.  I’m not sure if I like it on my armpit… Perhaps I’ll use it as a body lotion stick?

Overall, I really like the 2 lotions.  They are very moisturizing and sink in very well and very fast.  The price tags seem a bit steep, but they use natrual ingredients and Brallywood Butta is listed as a vegan product.  They are for a good cause too and that makes them even better!

I think I will keep some Scary Hairy for myself, and give them to my auntie May.  She is a breast cancer survivor, and I think these will bring her sexy back!

Hi there! Thanks for dropping by.
I wasn’t clear though…because the 40% off this time around is a coupon itself, you can’t use it with the Visaperks. I used it last week during their weekly 40% off sale…which is only on selected merchandise, and is automatically reduced in price. So you can use the Visaperks code there.
So not on this sale :(

Sucks, cause if it was, I totally would have bought more! lol ps its the boots that I am thinking about right now…they are sooo pretty! HAve fun with them :)
