Comparison review: NYX Lipstick line!

Comparisons between NYX line of lipsticks

When I bought the NYX Black Label lipstick, I realized that I had a lipstick from each of NYX’s lipstick line! I thought, “Time to do a comparison review!” as I had yet to see anyone do one online.

NYX lipsticks range from very inexpensive (Round lipsticks) to their premium lipstick (Black Label). Let’s start from most expensive to least expensive:

NYX Black Label lipstick is their premium lipstick. I bought it at $6.25 at a local beauty store far from my house. I was surprised that they had an actual NYX stand of makeup as it was the first time I’d seen one in a local beauty store. When I saw the Black Label lipsticks, I knew I had to get one just to see how it compared to the other lipsticks.

Let me say that this is one of the most smooth and creamy lipsticks I’ve tried yet!  It’s totally not heavy on the lips!  Unlike the Round lipsticks that tend to fade fast, the color on this lipstick definitely sticks around!  My lips are so moisturized when I wear this!

I chose Diva which actually looks nude on my darkly pigmented lips.  I definitely need to go back and get another one as they had all the colors.

NYX Lips Lipstick had my head scratching when I saw it at a perfume outlet near the Tunica, Mississippi casinos.  I already knew about the Round lipsticks at the time and wondered, why did NYX bother to make the Lips line?  Turns out that the Lips line are much more pigmented than the Black Label and the Round lipsticks.  The one I have photographed here is the infamous shade of B52.

I bought the lipstick for $5.50 which I’m sure is overpriced.  Everything NYX they sold at that perfume outlet was overpriced, IMO.  As with all the NYX lipsticks, Lips is moisturizing!  Sadly, the only problem I had with this particular lipstick was smell/taste.  Either, this lipstick is from an old batch that the store has had for a long time or the forumla went bad.  It had no bad smell to it when I bought it.  After 3 weeks of using it,   it started to taste/smell awful!!  When I’ve used it, I have to put some good tasting lipgloss over it to avoid tasting it.

I bought 5 of the NYX Diamond Sparkle lipsticks at Fred’s over the summer.  I was surpised to see them at the store as they were on clearance for a mere $1.25 each!  I bought every shade they had, in hopes, of using some for myself and giving the others to my cousins in the Philippines.

Diamond Sparkle isn’t the type of lipstick I normally would buy.  I’m not so much into sparkly lipstick.  I feel sparkly is more for nighttime and quite frankly, living in Memphis offers not much of a nightlife so I wouldn’t really wear this much (maybe when I’m visiting in San Francisco w/my friends and wanna dress up).

I will have to say that the sparkle isn’t so overt that you feel like you’ve bought lipstick for tweens from Claire’s or something.  It’s definitely a suble sparkle.    It also seemed to be the least moisturing of all the NYX lipstick lines I’ve used.  Unfortunately, all the tubes of Diamond Sparkle I bought were completely OLD!  Oh, I bought them all packaged up brand new but I guess the lipstick went bad in the packaging.  As soon as I put it on, it tasted so awful!  I was so pissed that all the lipsticks turned out that way!  I couldn’t even bring them back to the store for a refund as they were on clearance and they don’t do exchanges/refunds on clearance!  *sigh*  Such a sad loss!

Ahhh, the Round lipsticks!  Nothing bests $1 lipsticks!  I have yet to buy any online as I’m able to find them here and there locally at the beauty stores.  Stupid Ulta doesn’t even sell them as the only lip-related item they sell are the Diamond Sparkle lipgloss and Goddess of the Night lipglosses (I can’t think of the actual name for them? or maybe this is it?)

I took pics of Thalia which seems to be a pretty popular shade among beauty bloggers online.  Round lipsticks are so moisturizing and creamy yet they don’t seem to last very long on my lips.  Still, I love using the Round lipsticks as they just don’t break the bank!  And the color selection,…how can you go wrong?!  There’s 144 shades to choose from!!!

So, that’s all 4 of the lipstick lines from NYX.  I just looked on the NYX page and noticed they included the Tinted Lip Spa is also on the Lipstick page.  I do own almost all the colors from the Lip Spa as I bought them at Big Lots during the drugstore buyout in the summer.  I’ll have to review another time!
